In 2022 CROSSING EUROPE will once again open with multiple films that represent a cross section of this year’s festival program and show the great variety of contemporary European film.

For the first time, in 2022 a collection of films from previous festival editions of CROSSING EUROPE will be presented on filmfriend.at, a Video-on-Demand platform for libraries and universities, in cooperation with the city library of Linz.

Architecture and Society: LAND FOR US ALL!

The program section Architecture and Society, curated by Lotte Schreiber, puts a focus on the economic, ecological, and social importance of land under the title LAND FOR US ALL!.

Cinema Next Europe Club 2022

The Cinema Next Europe Club intends to give young filmmakers the possibility to take part in the film festival and to be able to gather specific inputs, as well as being able to enter into a direct exchange with other young filmmakers.

Working Worlds 2022: Care

YAAAS! Competition & School Screenings

CROSSING EUROPE is once more dedicated to the aim of getting the next generation excited about film with the YAAAS! Youth Program. The YAAAS! Young Programmers have selected six feature films that stand out in terms of choice of topic but also in artistic approach for the competition section YAAAS! Competition, three of which will also be offered as special school screenings.

Local Artists Special: Dietmar Brehm

Tribute 2022: Fabrice du Welz

CROSSING EUROPE will dedicate its Tribute program to the Belgian director and screenwriter Fabrice du Welz, who will also attend the festival in Linz for multiple days as the situation currently stands.

YAAAS! Young Programmers 2022

The YAAAS! Competition will show six current European film productions that were selected by the YAAAS! Young Programmers. The Young Programmers for 2022 have already been selected and have been taking part in an introductory program into the curation process of a film festival.

After 18 years of successful foundational work, Christine Dollhofer handed over the directorial agendas to Sabine Gebetsroither and Katharina Riedler. Also under this new leadership, CROSSING EUROPE is aiming to bring together the expectations of professional, as well as international and local audiences.
