Highly recommended! The Supporting Program 2022

14.04.2022 // In addition to a hand-picked film program at CROSSING EUROPE, the festival 2022 will be complemented and enriched by a diverse supporting program once again.

Last year, due to the pandemic, some events could not take place, or only in an adapted form, and in 2020 the festival had to be cancelled altogether. We are therefore particularly pleased that the changed conditions this year allow more leeway for the supporting program and that numerous events can once again take place in their established form. At the same time, hybrid formats will also be used, for example in the form of live streams for selected events. However, the health of our guests and our team remains our top priority and, of course, all festival elements will take place in compliance with the applicable Covid-19 regulations. Information on the regulations in this regard during the festival can be found at crossingeurope.at/covid.

Since the very beginning, one of the festival's key goals has been to provide opportunities for direct exchange with filmmakers from all over Europe, and in 2022 there will once again be numerous talks and Q&As, including with this year's Tribute-guest, Belgian director Fabrice du Welz (30 April, 4 pm, OK deck & live stream). Creative Region Linz & Upper Austria invites you to a talk with Nicola von Leffern (filmmaker) and Siniša Vidović (Forafilm), in cooperation with Film- und Musikwirtschaft/WKOÖ, which will provide insider knowledge on getting started in the film business (29 April, 4 pm, OK Deck). In this year's YAAAS! Close-Up, as part of the YAAAS! Youth Program, the audience will get insights into the work of two young filmmakers: Elena Wolff (actor, filmmaker, comedian), represented at the festival with PARA:DIES, and filmmaker Luzia Johow (1 May., 4 pm, OK Deck & live stream).
In cooperation with the Lentos Kunstmuseum and the artists association MAERZ we are also happy to present two CROSSOVER-projects: Lentos showcases the exhibition Lentos Featured Artist: Dietmar Brehm, which offers a glimpse into the multifaceted oeuvre of the Linz-based experimental artist, and the small exhibition SCREEN undogmatically and associatively traces the qualities that make the dispositif of cinema something we can miss and love.

The City Library of Linz, in cooperation with filmfriend.at, will host a film screening on April 30 (19:30) as part of the Lange Nacht der BibliOÖtheken event, showing a film from the CROSSING EUROPE edition of 2019: GOD EXISTS, HER NAME IS PETRUNYA (MK/BE/SI/HR/FR 2019).

After a forced break due to the ongoing pandemic, we are also very happy to announce the comeback of the Nightline at CROSSING EUROPE 2022. The festival attendees can look forward to a hand-picked musical evening program, with DJ sets on the OK Platz (in case of rain: OK Deck), two evenings of live music on the OK Deck, and a concert evening in the cultural center KAPU. The line-up offers acts like LYLIT, Cid Rim and Nnoa, The entry is free of charge
