Her Mothers
Nóra und Virág hegen den innigen Wunsch, eine Familie zu gründen, und stellen separat voneinander einen Antrag auf Adoption. Ein auch nach außen hin gemeinsamer Weg bleibt den beiden Frauen verwehrt. Sie leben in Ungarn und sehen sich einem politischen Klima gegenüber, das mit jedem Tag homophober wird. Während ANYÁIM TÖRTÉNETE das Paar nach der erfolgreichen Adoption dabei begleitet, wie es versucht, sich in seine neuen Rollen einzuleben und dem Mädchen ein Zuhause zu geben, schallt immer wieder der Hass der Regierenden aus dem Radio und erzeugt eine beklemmende Situation – auf und vor der Leinwand. As Hungary’s political climate becomes increasingly radicalized, Virág, a former green politician, loses faith in the pretend-to-be democratic parliament and retires from politics. She and her musician partner Nóra decide to adopt a child. With a sensitive lens and close access, directors Asia Dér and Sári Haragonics follow the two women through their long adoption process to bring home their young daughter. But tensions begin to rise between the two as Virág thrives in her role as a mother and Nóra struggles to find her place within the family. As the rising tides of hate and homophobia in Hungary begin to overflow into their family, their lives hit a boiling point. (Cineuropa)
