Brave Men
Anfang der 90er-Jahre kehrt der Richter Ignazio von Mailand nach Lecce zurück. Hier trifft er Lucia wieder, in die er von klein auf, schon immer verliebt war. Sie hat ein Kind und arbeitet für eine Parfümfirma, doch in Wahrheit ist sie die rechte Hand eines der Bosse der Sacra Corona Unitá. Als Ignazio ihre Zugehörigkeit zum kriminellen Milieu entdeckt, wird sein Berufsethos auf die Probe gestellt. Der Aufstieg der Sacra Corona Unitá in Apulien in den 80er-Jahren war wie ein Schock für die bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt von organisierter Kriminalität verschonte Region. Winspeare dreht aber keinen Politthriller, sondern ein Melodram über eine unmögliche Liebe. (Markus Vorauer)
Lecce in the 1990s. Ignazio is a highly esteemed judge who has just returned to the city having worked in the north for many years. He sees Lucia again, the woman he has always secretly loved. She has a son with Infantino, one of biggest drug dealers in the area, and she works as a representative for a perfume company. But this is just a cover. Lucia has actually become the right hand woman of Carmine Zà, one of the bosses of the Sacra Corona Unita, the new criminal organisation that reached the apex of its power and ferocity in this period.
