Silva ist zeitlebens viele Wege gegangen, kreuz und quer durch Portugal. Er hat sich durchgeschlagen. Als Regenschirm-Reparateur, Bauer, Schafhirte, Barbier, Maurer, Bergarbeiter, Gärtner, Clown und Zauberer. Mit Höhen und Tiefen. Jetzt hallen seine Schritte in den Gassen eines abgelegenen Dorfes wider, wo er ein leer stehendes Haus bezieht. Er trägt einen Anzug, und mit seinem reich bestickten Sombrero, dem weißen Bündel über der Schulter, Cowboystiefeln, Gehstock und Ringen an den Fingern ist er eine auffällige Erscheinung. Wie eine Figur aus einem Schelmenroman. Alle im Ort gehen dem sonderbaren Herumtreiber aus dem Weg, nur ein junges Mädchen ist für ihn und seine Geschichten empfänglich …

Silva has trodden many paths over the course of his life, paths that crisscross the north of Portugal. He has made ends meet as an umbrella repairman, a farmer, a shepherd, a barber, bricklayer, miner, gardener, clown, and magician. So many peaks and troughs. Now his steps echo in the narrow streets of a remote village, where he has moved into an empty house. He wears a suit and cuts a striking figure with his richly embroidered sombrero, the white bundle over his shoulder, his cowboy boots, walking stick, and the rings on his fingers. He could be a character in a picaresque novel. The locals avoid this strange wanderer, except for a young girl …

Director's Biography
MAYA KOSA, born in Geneva in 1985, is a Swiss writer, director, and editor. She holds a degree in film directing. SÉRGIO DA COSTA, born in Lausanne in 1984, is a Swiss director, editor, and director of photography. He majored in film studies. Following the midlength documentary Aux bains de la reine, Rio Corgo is their second collaborative film.
