Wrinkles

Basierend auf dem gleichnamigen Comic von Paco Roca, erzählt der spanische Animationsfilm ARRUGAS von der Freundschaft zweier Männer. Emilio und Miguel sind beide Bewohner eines Seniorenheims. Aufgrund seiner Alzheimererkrankung hat Emilio Angst vor der Verlegung auf die gefürchtete Station in der obersten Etage des Hauses. Um dies zu vermeiden, hilft Miguel seinem Freund mit viel Humor. Somit ist auch der triste Alltag der beiden Herren bald vergessen. Schließlich erscheint die immer schneller verstreichende Zeit von Emilio und Miguel weniger als Ende als vielmehr der Beginn von etwas Neuem.

WRINKLES portrays the friendship between Emilio and Miguel, two aged gentlemen shut away in a care home. Recent arrival Emilio, in the early stages of Alzheimer's, is helped by Miguel and colleagues to avoid ending up on the feared top floor of the care home, also known as the lost causes or "assisted" floor. Their wild plan infuses their otherwise tedious day-to-day with humor and tenderness, because although for some their lives is coming to an end, for them it is just beginning.

Regie Biografie

Ignacio Ferreras can already look back on a solid career in the field of animated film, having worked in the art department of the TV series Rugrats and of the film ASTÉRIX ET LES VIKINGS (Asterix and the Vikings, 2006). He was also involved in animating the Dreamworks production Joseph: KING OF DREAMS (2000) and the Oscar-nominated L’ILLUSIONNISTE (The Illusionist, 2010). His short film HOW TO COPE WITH DEATH (2002) received awards at several international festivals. ARRUGAS (Wrinkles, 2011) won two Goya Awards: for Best Animated Film and Best Adapted Screenplay
