The festival year 2020 did not go according to plan. After having to cancel the seventeenth edition of the Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival director Christine Dollhofer and the festival team started to come up with an alternative program. In accordance with the festival spirit it was important on the one hand to be able to present the wide range of European auteur cinema, as well as showing the many program cooperations that have enriched the festival since the very beginning.
Crossing Europe EXTRACTS, as the alternative program is called, is intended to make a small contribution to maintaining film cultural life in Austria in several stages and to offer the filmmakers and their films selected for the 2020 festival edition a forum - albeit in a reduced form and different from the usual one - spread over several months. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all sponsors, sponsors and partners who, despite the cancellation of the festival, have supported us in order to provide us with financial and planning security and thus make the alternative program Crossing Europe EXTRACTS possible.
