Les pires

The Worst Ones

In a working-class town in northern France, a Belgian filmmaker holds a cattle call to round out the cast of the film he plans to direct there. His choice comes down to three kids generally considered to be waste cases. The “worst ones” in their housing project will be forever transformed by their time on camera. Winner of the Un certain regard award at the 2022 Cannes Festival, this gripping, heart-warming first feature takes a close-up look at young people scarred by life but looking for a way out. The kids are portrayed by young, non-professional actors with an energy, lust for life and gift of the gab that will stick with you. Their experience also raises many questions about ethics and the power of cinema. (Festival du nouveau cinéma)
