In a rural town in Andalucía, a teenager gives birth and runs away, leaving everything behind. Decades later, in the outskirts of Barcelona, Carmen, a casting director must go in search of “authentic” people for an electoral campaign, migrants willing to tell the stories. This way, she meets Antonia, a street vendor who storms into her loneliness and whose vitality hides the marks from the past when she sings “time heals everything, but the wounds remain.” (...) THE PERMANENT PICTURE does not seek to capture the authentic but the human; with dry humor and some infrequent sensitivity, it depicts the improbable and powerful bond between two women, through differences, learn to mirror each other and, above all, accompany each other.
