At the YAAAS! Workshop Rally on Thursday, 27. April you will have the chance to take part in two workshops on the following topics from 9 am to 11:30 am, as well as from 12 pm to 2:30 pm. The workshops will take place in various locations around the festical center in Linz – students from different classes can take part in all of the workshops this year.

Workshop #1: FAKE IT! Self-Dramatization in Art and on Social Media
Have you got an interest in self-dramatization in front of the camera and in toying with “fake” and fiction on social media and in art? Are you fascinated by how artists and influencers present themselves in front of the camera and on social media and how actors constantly reinvent themselves for their roles?
Then this workshop is the ideal opportunity to learn about different dramatization strategies and techniques and subsequently try them out for yourselves in the form of individual “fake reality” projects.

Bernadette Anzengruber is a visual artist working with photography, video, performance, and objects, among other things. Topics she deals with include identity attributions, extraneous and self-dramatization through media, intimacy, the eroticism of commodities, and the corporeality of language.

Workshop #2: Flip Yourself into Metamorphosis - Flip Book Transitions Flip by Flip
Create your own short animation where the use of transitions is the main focus. Learn a few classic animation principles and create transitions between various objects of your choice using animation techniques individually or as a team. After a short introduction to the theoretical background, you will be able to turn blank paper into a little piece of moving image magic.

Workshop #3: Coding for the Interactive DeepSpace
DeepSpace is a big room in the Ars Electronica Center that hosts a floor and wall projection. It is also equipped with laser tracking, which enables the positions of users to be determined.
In this workshop, we will take a look behind the scenes with the help of Studio1 at the University of Art and Design Linz and explore how these rooms work. Using the programming environment Processing, we will also develop our own little programs.
Holunder Heiß studied Digital Arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. He has dedicated himself to interactive media art as an artist, programmer/technician and teacher since 2010 and has been an employee at the Department of Time-based and Interactive Media Arts of the University of Art and Design Linz since 2016.

Workshop #4: Studio to Go: Multi-Cam Live Streaming with Smartphones and Laptop
Decent processing power and connectivity make smartphones the Swiss army knife of video production.In this workshop, we will broadcast a live stream on YouTube with our smartphones, GoPros, and a drone. For the live editing, we will use simply a laptop with Open Broadcast Studio. Participants will get acquainted with the studio software OBS and will receive an introduction on how they can easily recreate the workshop set-up themselves.

Workshop #5: #bippidyboppidyboo: Cinema of Attractions – Early Film Tricks and Effective Cuts on TikTok
In this workshop, we will take a look at some examples of original cuts and segues throughout film history right up to aesthetic phenomena on TikTok, and together analyze what effect they cause and how they are made. Liesa Kovacs is a freelance filmmaker at the crossing of art, activism, and pop culture. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and has many years of experience in practical film education work in various contexts, including YOUKI Festival, OeAD apprenticeship projects, Lower Austrian art schools, and many more.
