Yes, we are
When homophobia in Poland is discussed, it usually involves gay men. But what about lesbians in Poland? What has changed since the transition? Which forms of resistance exist? In this debut film we focus exclusively on women who do not conform to the heteronormative matrix, and on their diverse strategies for asserting themselves in a homophobic environment. Here the protagonists’ complex analyses also convey an insight into the general political climate in Poland.
Director's Biography
Magda Wystub, geb. 1972 in Wroclaw, Polen. Bereits seit über 15 Jahren ist sie in feministischen und queeren Zusammenhängen aktiv. Sie ist Diplom-Soziologin und arbeitet freiberuflich als Publizistin mit den Schwerpunkten Feminismus, LGBT, Gender sowie Migration, Rassismus und Postkolonialismus. Im April 2000 hat sie das Festival des politischen Films „Das Weite suchen“ in Frankfurt am Main mitorganisiert und den gleichnamigen Trailer geschnitten. Yes, We Are ist ihr Debütfilm.
