Twentynine Palms

In Europe, we live in a very confined space and that conditions our minds. In the USA, there is so much space that the shock of discovering it, for a Eu-ro-pean, creates a host of surprising feelings. Feelings of fear, caused by the vastness of the natural world. At the same time, the desert has a meditative impact that interested me even though I didn‘t necessarily want to make a meditative film, but rather one driven by energy and violence. (Bruno Dumont) An American photographer and his new French girlfriend drive their Hummer through the desert near Twentynine Palms, not far from Zabriskie Point. They seem to be in love, but horror is on the horizon. Breathtaking landscapes and plenty of fucking in this „American“ film by Bruno Dumont.
