Autumn
Sentenced to jail in 1997 as a university student of 22 years, Yusuf is released due to ill health ten years later. He returns to his village in the Eastern Black Sea region, where he is welcomed only by his sick and elderly mother. Back home he meets Eka, a beautiful young Georgian hooker. His love for her becomes a final desperate attempt to grasp life and elude loneliness. With the 1990s as a backdrop, the film documents and criticizes recent history, exposing the irony, ruthlessness and reality of the period.
Director's Biography
Özcan Alper, geboren 1975 im Norden der Türkei. 1992 Physikstudium an der Universität Istanbul. 1996 Studium der Geschichtswissenschaften. Alper beginnt mit dem Filmemachen. Sein Kurzfilm Momi (Großmutter, 2001) gewann zahlreiche Preise. Es war der weltweit erste Film in „Hemşin“, einem Dialekt aus dem Nordosten der Türkei. Autumn ist Alpers erster Spielfilm und hatte Premiere im Wettbewerb in Locarno.
