Sámi Blood

Elle Marja, fourteen, is a reindeer-breeding Sámi girl. Exposed to the racism of the 1930s and race biology examinations at her boarding school, she starts dreaming of another life. To achieve this other life she has to become someone else and break all ties with her family and culture. Elle Marja resolves to leave behind her Sámi identity and find a new life in Uppsala.

Director's Biography
AMANDA KERNELL, born in 1986 in Northern Sweden, studied film directing at The National Film School of Denmark and graduated in 2013. Since 2006, she has directed several acclaimed shorts.
