Saint Maud

Skirting easy cynicism to view fire, brimstone and occasional grace through Maud’s awestruck eyes, this is finally as much a sympathetic character study, a mental health mind-map, as it is any kind of chiller. Whatever the case, it’s one hell of a debut for Rose Glass. (Guy Lodge, Variety)§ A slender but unholy cross between @First Reformed@ and @The Exorcist@, Rose Glass’ taut and trembling @Saint Maud@ transmutes a young woman’s spiritual crisis into such a refined story of body horror that genre fans might feel like they’re having a religious experience. (David Ehrlich, Indiewire)
