Reality

In REALITY director Matteo Garrone tells the story of Luciano, a Neapolitan fishmonger who supplements his modest income by pulling off little scams together with his wife Maria. A likeable, entertaining guy, Luciano never misses an opportunity to perform for his customers and countless relatives. One day his family urge him to try out for ‘Il Grande Fratello’, the Italian counterpart of ‘Big Brother’. In chasing this dream his perception of reality begins to change. The film was awarded the Grand Prize of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012.

Director's Biography
MATTEO GARRONE, born 1968 in Rome, Italy. He graduated from art school in 1986 and dedicated several years to painting afterwards. In 1996 Garrone made his first short film Silhouette and at the same time founded his production company Archimede. The Crossing Europe Film Festival dedicated a Tribute program to the director in 2004.
