The Market - A Tale of Trade
Mihram is an inventive small-time trader in a provincial town in Eastern Turkey. He has many ideas for good business deals, but never enough capital to realize them. One day the hospital supply truck is robbed. In desperation the local GP hires Mihram to find medicine on the black market. Mihram finally sees an opportunity to make a life-changing deal, but to do so he will have to gamble with the community’s money. If he loses, he will be an outcast. If he wins, he will have a good start-up business. But he hasn’t taken into account two things: the local mafia and the inscrutable rules of the marketplace.
Director's Biography
Ben Hopkins, geboren 1969 in Hongkong, aufgewachsen in London. Studium an der Oxford University und am Royal College of Art in London. Nach sieben vielfach preisgekrönten Kurzfilmen wurde Hopkins’ erster Spielfilm, Simon Magus (1999), im Wettbewerb der Berlinale 1999 uraufgeführt. In den letzten Jahren arbeitete er vor allem als Dokumentarfilmer für die BBC.
