Oyun

Nine peasant women living in Arslanköy, a mountain village in southern Turkey, intend to write and perform a play based on their own life stories. Beyond the message they wanted to convey through the theatre, I was interested in single individuals and the change they went through in the course of putting the play on stage. To the casual observer nothing changed in their daily lives, they go on with their life struggle under difficult circumstances as usual. However, I think, there has been an important and positive change in the way they stand in this struggle: they got closer to themselves. (Pelin Esmer)
