The Bogeyman
It is summertime, and Ahmet and his younger sister Ayşe stick together, the boy extra-protective in the face of their uncertain home life. When their mother died and their wastrel father Kazim remarried a harridan, they went to live with their grandfather Hasan. The old man is a loving guardian, but the combination of age, infirmity and poverty weighs heavily. Their aunt in Germany wants to bring them over, but paperwork takes longer than expected, and Hasan struggles to keep the household going. Neighbor Gulgeren suggests farming 8-year-old Ayşe off as a servant to a rich family, but Hasan resists breaking up the siblings.
Director's Biography
Atalay Taşdiken, geboren 1964 in Beyşehir, Ost-Anatolien. Studierte an der Selçuk Universität in Konya Physik für das Lehramt. Begann 1991 in der Werbung zu arbeiten und realisierte in zehn Jahren mehr als 300 Werbeclips. Mommo (The Bogeyman) ist sein erster Spielfilm.
