The Substance
In 2010, a delegation from the company China Merchants Group went to Cadaqués, the iconic town on the Costa Brava in Northern Spain, internationally known as the place of refuge and inspiration for the cult painter Salvador Dalí. Their mission was to take notes to build a replica of the ancient fishing village in China. Six years later, Tingting, a young entrepreneur from Xiamen, buys an apartment in Kadakaisi, the Chinese replica of the village of Cadaqués. The Substance – a documentary that oscillates between original and replica, reality and dream, time and memory, and the landscapes of Cadaqués, Kadakaisi, Xiamen, and Cap de Creus …
Director's Biography
born in 1983 in Figueres, Spain, has written and directed several short films. Caracremada, his first feature film, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and won the CROSSING EUROPE Award – Best Fiction Film in 2011.
