Kain Denkmal
Who was Franz Kain? This is the question that Alenka Maly pursues in her film. The result is Kain Denkmal, a portrait of the Upper Austrian writer, whose literary work was long suppressed in Austria because of his political stance. While Margit Kain recalls memories with her granddaughter with photographs and recordings, the musician Hubert von Goisern, the poet Erich Hackl and the mathematician Jim Cooper tell of their personal experiences with the author, who died in 1997. „Of course it is harder for the nay-sayer, because he constantly has to swim against the current, but swimming against the current also had advantages in building muscles and character.“ (original quotation from Franz Kain)
