Früher oder Später

Ulrike von Ribbeck’s feature debut is a coming-of-age drama tinted with magical realism. Over the course of one summer 14-year-old Nora transgresses into the world of grown-ups and their complex webs of hidden desires and motivations. She is enamoured with a neighbor, who in his recklessness and irresponsible behaviour represents everything her own father lacks. The core family drifts slowly towards a catastrophe and is still unable to achieve real communication. (mz)
