Der Weihnachtsmann

In his grandson Noel's kindergarten, Gerhard Pitlik is only known as the "gift grandpa". For him, the toy department in department stores is paradise on earth, and Christmas his personal highlight of the year. The documentary accompanies Gerhard through the pre-Christmas season, interposing only a few questions, observing his passion for putting things in order, game consoles, computer games, cigarettes and fitness. But it also takes a look at his relationship with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, and his often contradictory, unreflected attitudes and views, as well as his loneliness. (Angela Sirch)
