Bratrství

Brotherhood

Filmed over four years, BROTHERHOOD brings the story of three Bosnian brothers born into a family of shepherds. Set in an idyllic rural landscape, this observational film with a stylized narrative explores the lives of these young men transitioning into adulthood. Things become complicated when their authoritarian father, a war veteran, is sentenced to two years in prison for terrorism. At different ages, the boys’ newly found freedom becomes a veritable challenge. Frustrations mount as they struggle between self-realization and obedience, but their aspirations are suppressed by the fears set by an unyielding father, religious values and a stern social environment.
