Close-Up: YOUKI goes YAAAS!

In cooperation with the YOUKI International Youth Media Festival we once again invited two young filmmakers this year to show their first videos in direct comparison to their current works, and give them the opportunity to answer questions about their work in the film industry in an open discussion format. What is particularly important is how they made their way as filmmakers, and the question, which problems, hurdles and setbacks they had to endure, but also which creative developments they went through.

The event was hosted by three members of our former YAAAS! Young Programmers, who complemented the discussion with short extracts from the films of our guests. They are Marlene Mayrhofer, Lea Haslmaier, and Eva Lackner, and are currently attending their final year at the HBLA für künstlerische Gestaltung.

The recording of this year's YAAAS! Close-Up can be watched HERE.

Here is an excerpt from Elena Wolff's "MoNuMent," an 18-minute mockumentary from 2018.

Here is an excerpt from "Para:dies", a film by Elena Wolff and Julia Windischbauer from 2022.
