Stuttgart–Shanghai

Iris, Anfang 20 und hochschwanger, sitzt in einem anonymen Hochhaus in der Millionenstadt Shanghai. Ihr Mann Mark ist im weit entfernten Ningbo, einem staubigen Textilmoloch mit vier Millionen Einwohnern. Dort versucht er, in der Textilfabrik seines Vaters Fuß zu fassen. Iris und Mark sind keine Abenteurer. Sie legen Wert auf Sicherheit, beide haben ein abgeschlossenes Studium. Nach China sind sie ausgewandert, weil sie glauben, in Deutschland trotz ihrer Ausbildung keine Perspektiven zu haben. Als eine neue Art von Gastarbeiter sind die beiden nun Teil eines Auswanderstroms von der westlichen in die asiatische Welt.

Iris, in her early twenties and the latter stages of pregnancy, sits in an anonymous high-rise building in the metropolis of Shanghai. Her husband Mark is far away in Ningbo, a dusty textile moloch with four million inhabitants. He is trying to establish himself there in his father‘s textile factory. Iris and Mark are not adventurers. Security is important to them, they both have a university degree. They have emigrated to China, because they believe they have no prospects in Germany, despite their education. As a new type of guest-workers, the two of them are part of a stream of emigration from Western to the Asian world.
