Nomades du nucléaire

„Nomades du nucléaire“ – das sind großteils junge Menschen, die in Frankreich von Atommeiler zu Atommeiler reisen, um dort Reinigungs- und Inspektionsarbeiten zu verrichten. In ihren Wohnwägen haben manche auch Kinder mit dabei, denen sie „on the road“ Bildung und familiäre Wärme zukommen lassen müssen. Das größte Problem sind allerdings gesundheitliche Aspekte: Per annum dürfen sie sich die „nomades“ nur einer bestimmten Strahlendosis aussetzen, danach ist eine Pause Pflicht. Wird das verdiente Geld für den Rest des Jahres reichen? Mit zwingenden Bildern zwischen Unmittelbarkeit und Dystopie werden Fragen nach prekären Arbeitsbedingungen und kontroverser Energieproduktion in den Blick gefasst. (Oliver Stangl)

These largely young workers may receive impressive bonuses for their job inspecting and cleaning nuclear power plants up and down the country, but they are putting their health, if not their lives, at risk. In between parenting and route planning, they busily add up their daily and weekly radiation doses in the hope that they will be able to earn enough money before they reach the annual maximum and have to stop working.
