Say YAAAS!

YAAAS! is the youth program at the CROSSING EUROPE Film Festival in Linz (AT) that takes place every year in late April.

To call out YAAAS! means to euphorically say “yes” – “yes” to a program that does not only aim to present finished content but rather invites you to produce videos in an internationally mixed team, enjoy a film program that is curated and discussed by a group of peers, try new techniques in a workshop rally, or talk with professionals face to face in small groups.

In 2019 CROSSING EUROPE presented a holistic program for film education, acquisition of media competencies, and DIY-video production. Over 900 teenagers attended the first edition of the YAAAS! Youth Program, which is about promoting media competency through practical work with the medium of film and its reception.

YAAAS! invites you to take a whiff of the festival air together with others of the same age. Our program is specially geared towards 15 to 20 year olds - here we go: the entire program will be online and registration for the events will be possible by the beginning of April.

The YAAAS! Video Project opens the world of film and video production. Taking part you can create your own film in an internationally mixed team of peers within six days.

YAAAS! Workshop Rally offers the chance to immerse yourself in various fields (camera, animation, sound, storytelling …).

YAAAS! Face2Face offers speed dating with European industry professionals.

At the YAAAS! Close-Up you can meet international film professionals and get to know the professional field of film. You'll find out who our guests will be here in the beginning of April.

YAAAS! Screenings include films which have been selected by the YAAAS! Young Programmers for the program section YAAAS! Competition.

The YAAAS! Youth Jury, consisting of five teenagers who will watch the six titles of the YAAAS! Competition and give out the CROSSING EUROPE Award – YOUTH JURY (prize money: € 3.000,– powered by VdFS).
