Hanging Without Walls

Alexandra Kusa has an impossible task as museum director: to renovate the Slovakian National Gallery. The SNG, consisting of a classical structure combined with a brutalist extension, has been empty for years and used as a storage depot for art. A major renovation is the only solution. Dependent on national funding, the renovation becomes a political battle in which even her character comes under scrutiny. Under Kafkaesque conditions, she steers her team through the forest of politics, financing, permit applications and construction. (Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam)
