Kyuka Before Summer's End

A single father and his twin children sail to the island of Poros. An unexpected encounter with their mother turns the trip upside down. With this first feature, Greek director Kostis Charamountanis immerses himself in home cinema – complete with 1:33 format and faux-grain imitation film – to create a work full of surprises. The unconventional duo of Elsa and Konstantinos are completely natural, enhanced by an energetic soundtrack. Above all, however, KYUKA's originality lies in his use of free editing, which takes control of the situation. A sunny, creative journey that is both a theatre of the absurd and a poetic experiment.
