Donkey Days

Sisters Anna and Charlotte have always fought for their mother’s attention. As old wounds reopen and suck them back to their family home, they unravel mesmerizing mysteries, including anonymous ashes and their mother’s love for a donkey. Will they come to terms with each other? Dutch filmmaker Rosanne Pel crafts a haunting, darkly humorous portrait of family ties that both wound and bind. As Anna and Charlotte navigate buried memories and confront the impossible task of reconciling the past, DONKEY DAYS becomes what the director calls “a fractured female triangle in meltdown”. A meditation on sibling rivalry, maternal love, and the fragile possibility of forgiveness. (Thessaloniki Film Festival)
